Governor Baker and legislative leaders announced late yesterday that implementation of the new Massachusetts Paid Family Medical Leave Act (PFML) will be postponed to October 1.

Additional changes to the law have not yet been released. There will likely be an increase in the contribution rate (from .63% to .75%) in order to fund the plan adequately within the shortened timeframe. The announcement also indicates the adoption of “technical changes to clarify program design.”
